Rhode Island Identity Theft
Identity theft in Rhode Island refers to, among other things, using someone’s personal identifying information to commit, aid or abet any unlawful activity. The law can be found in R.I. Gen. Laws § 11-49.1-1 – 1.4. As with many other states, Rhode Island law not only addresses the use of someone else’s personal information to commit a crime or fraud, but also trafficking (e.g., buying and selling) such information.
